Keynote Speaker Jack Uldrich

Super-fast growing plants, edible packaging and "cultured" meat, Bio-pesticides, Artificial Intelligence--sound like elements out of a sci-fi flick?  Welcome to future of farming.

Futurist Jack Uldrich will be delivering a keynote speech on these trends and more for the Agricultural Production Executives Association in Palm Springs, CA on February 9.

"Researchers are on the cusp of identifying how specific bacteria can be used by farmers to boost yield, increase resistance to drought, disease, and pests, and reduce reliance on costly fertilizers, pesticides, and insecticides."

Jack Uldrich, Agriculture Futurist

Uldrich, a Futurist who specializes in agricultural trends, says that the ten technologies and trends he will speak on are what "future-oriented farmers should familiarize themselves with in 2017 if they wish to stay ahead of the game."

Uldrich's complete list of trends for farmers and agribusinesses are in his latest article, What’s Next in Farming: Ten Trends Transforming Agriculture in 2017–and Beyond.

When it comes to the third trend on Uldrich's list, Microbiomes or 'beneficial bacteria', he says, "They are the 'the next major platform in agriculture.' Farmers and scientists alike have understood the beneficial benefits of the bacteria living in the soil for years. But now researchers are on the cusp of identifying how specific bacteria can be used by farmers to boost yield, increase resistance to drought, disease, and pests, and reduce reliance on costly fertilizers, pesticides, and insecticides."
