How Is Emerging Technology Transforming Agriculture?

Futurist Speaker Jack Uldrich

Global Futurist Jack Uldrich is sharing his insights on the future of agriculture at two events this month

Following his presentation on the future of wealth management in Atlanta Wednesday, acclaimed futurist Jack Uldrich was in Branson, Mo., today to speak on the future of agriculture and insurance. He shared his insights with KFSA, one of the largest insurance agencies in the state of Kansas. Uldrich will again discuss the future of agriculture, as well as banking for agricultural companies, in Nashville on Nov. 13.

Uldrich specializes in delivering thought-provoking speeches on future trends, emerging technologies, innovation, change management and leadership both nationally and internationally.

Big Data, prescriptive planting, precision farming, GMOs and robotics are just a few of the game-changing trends in the agricultural industry today.

When asked what his primary message for his audience at KFSA would be, Uldrich replied, "Insurance companies dealing with agriculture need not only to stay on top of the current trends in the field, but they must also learn to ask better questions. Additionally, they will need to assimilate different ideas and open themselves to viewing the world from a different perspective. Unlearning and growth stem directly from challenging long-held assumptions. If leaders in the industry take these challenges on, this the whole paradigm of insurance is bound to change."

He believes that one of the biggest game changers in agriculture is artificial intelligence.

“AI can and will help us in the future,” Uldrich says. Aquaponic farming, yield mapping software and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are just a few of the other technologies Uldrich says will be transforming agriculture in the next few years. Additionally, he says Big Data, prescriptive planting, precision farming and autonomous robotics are also among the important trends to be aware of in the industry today.

A regular speaker for agriculture audiences across the U.S. and internationally, Uldrich firmly has his finger on the pulse of the rapid shifts affecting the world of agriculture.

Uldrich's many agricultural clients include InfoAg 2016, Bayer CropScience, the Minnesota Dairy Council, Land O’Lakes, Case IH, The Agricultural Adaptation Council of Ontario, AgGateway, the California Ag Summit, the Canola Council of Canada’s Annual Meeting and the Indiana Farm Bureau.
