Energy Futurist Jack Uldrich shared his research and insights on the future of the natural gas industry today, and his advice for leaders planning for the future.
TAMPA, Fla., April 19, 2018 (Newswire.com) - Energy Futurist Jack Uldrich was in Tampa, FL, today to present the opening keynote at the 2018 Southern Gas Association Management Conference.
"The energy industry may appear to many as resistant to change," says energy trend expert Jack Uldrich. "That may or may not be a fair assessment."
Continuous disruption is the new normal. And the most successful innovators/leaders in the utility and energy industry will ask better questions and as a result, receive better answers.

"What is fair to say is," says Uldrich, "that the industry is poised for an extraordinary change in the years ahead. What has served the industry well in the past won't be sufficient for remaining competitive in the future. It is imperative that the leadership in the industry get energized and embrace a new approach."
He adds, "Continuous disruption is the new normal. And the most successful innovators/leaders in the utility and energy industry will ask better questions and as a result, receive better answers."
Uldrich's talk focused on how future technological trends like the increase in big data, rapid developments in artificial intelligence, advancements in grid-capable batteries, blockchain technology, virtual and augmented reality, and nanotechnology, as well as continued advances in home sensors, solar cells, wind turbines and fuel cell technology could transform the future of energy.
In addition to discussing specific trends to watch, Uldrich shared his leadership concept "The Big AHA." AHA is his acronym for Awareness, Humility, and Action. Uldrich says these three tenets are critical for leaders when preparing for a fast-changing future. He goes on to state that "AHA," combined with a willingness to "unlearn," will provide fertile ground for leaders for future growth.
Known throughout the world for his assessment of energy and technological trends and their effect on our society, Uldrich has delivered keynote presentations and workshops for a wide variety of energy-related groups, including the Southern California Gas Company, Northwestern Energy, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, the Minnesota Rural Electric Cooperative, NRCEA — America’s Electric Cooperatives, American Public Power, National Fluid Power, National Electric Contractors, Power South, ENMAX and the Energy Fund.
